A creative, contemporary art school must work in two directions.
Outwardly: to make use of modern society's
enormous range of information, to take part, use and be
inspired by the conquests and wisdom of others. It is a
question of putting together fragments of information,
being open and constantly willing to learn.
Inwardly: to prepare the way for an inner quest, one
that will allow you to develop your individuality and
uniqueness. It is a question of finding your own voice,
the voice that allows you to express deep and highly
intimate questions. You listen to your inner voice, allowing
sensibility and sensitivity to mature.
These two directions are equally important for the creative process. Thus, the teaching at Göteborgs Konstskola is based both on a balance between these forces and each individual student. Personal needs, each unique personality and every individual’s learning strategy are paramount to the teaching.
